• Officer Chance Howell reported June 13 that he responded to the area of 13th Street and South Central Avenue in reference to an accident. While he was responding, dispatch notified him that one of the vehicles, a white Ford F-150, was leaving the scene. He reported that before he arrived on the scene, dispatch notified him that both vehicles were pulling into the closed down store at Seventh Street and Ridge Avenue. As Howell was pulling on the scene, the F-150 left again and headed west on Seventh Street. The driver was not buckled up. Howell attempted to stop the truck, which pulled into a parking lot and ran up on the curb. Two open containers of Bud Light were sitting in the cup holders of the center console. The driver, Abel Javier Mauricio, 27, of Alapaha, was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, two open container violations, failure to maintain lane, driving without a valid license, duty of driver to stop at or return to the scene of an accident, defective or obstructed windshields and a safety restraint violation.

• A man, while at Tift Regional Medical Center, reported June 14 that someone attacked him for no apparent reason while in the parking lot at La Estrella on Commerce Way. He told police that he was hanging out in the parking lot with a female friend. He said a male approached the female and wanted her to leave and get with his friend. The victim reported that the subject became angry when the female kept making his friend wait. He said after two attempts to get the female to leave, the subject came back and began punching him with his fist. The victim received several injuries to his face — two large lumps raised on the left side of his forehead, a large abrasion above his nose (possibly fractured due to his eyes being dark underneath), swollen right jaw and he could barely open his mouth. He also complained of pain in his right shoulder. He reported that he believes he was “jumped” by several people while the subject was striking him but was unsure.

• A man reported June 14 that he stopped by Hawkeye Bar-B-Que on West 12th Street to get some water and noticed that the pictures on the wall were crooked. He also noticed that the video equipment had been pulled down and that the modem/hard drive was gone. He then checked the cash register, which had not been touched. The jar of cash that was on the counter beside the register was also left alone. The complainant said he went to a back storage room where he kept the money for the store and noticed that the door had been kicked in. The money box was gone.
