TIFTON – The Board of Directors at Spring Hill Country Club has announced that the club has partnered with Barbara J. “BJ” Smith, owner and general manager of BJ Smith Events and Catering. The catering company will provide food service for the club this year.
The agreement, signed Jan. 5 and effective Feb. 1, will require the company to provide a Sunday brunch each week. The company will also provide dinner service Thursday through Saturday each week.
In addition, the company will be available for special functions such as wedding receptions, class reunions, anniversary celebrations, holiday parties, corporate functions and civic club events.
Smith has been in the food service business for all of her adult life. She says she’s eager to get started, and has begun to move additional equipment and supplies on site. She is also already working on menu details for her first Sunday brunch, set for Feb. 1, and is planning an elegant menu for fine dining for Valentine’s. More details will be provided on that offering in the coming days.
Smith will be joined by Dykstra Carter, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, as executive chef.
Board President Butch Davis said, “We feel extremely fortunate to have someone of BJ’s talents, skills and experience to be our food service provider. Without a doubt, her organization will be a significant enhancement to Spring Hill’s offerings.”
Smith will be headquartered at Spring Hill, but will continue to cater at other venues such as the Tiftarea Conference Center, the UGA Tifton Conference Center, the Georgia Museum of Agriculture, Leroy Rogers Center, Tifton Museum of Arts & Heritage and The Peach Barn. She will continue the Sunday buffet at the Tiftarea Conference Center through Jan. 31.
