FITZGERALD — Seven people have been charged in connection to the murder of Georgia Lottery winner Craigory “C.J.” Burch Jr., 20, of Fitzgerald.

The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit and the District Attorney’s investigator have worked tirelessly since the January 2016 home invasion/murder, said Ben Hill County Sheriff Bobby McLemore.

Warrants were taken by the sheriff’s office and they arrested the following people: Rosalyn Swain, 22, Earnest Holcomb, 27, and Wayan Jordan, 17, all of Fitzgerald; Anjavell Johnson, 21, and Dabrentise Overstreet, 19, both of Tifton; and Keyana Dyous, 24, of Moultrie.

Nathaniel Baker, 28, also of Moultrie, has warrants issued but is being held in another jail pending service of warrants.

All seven offenders are charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, home invasion and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

McLemore said, “This was a pre-selected target and the citizens of Fitzgerald were not in any danger from these suspects.”

There may be more people and charges as the investigation continues, he said. He noted they cannot comment on any aspect of the investigation because it could hurt the case.

The Tifton Gazette previously reported that Burch was murdered at a home on Stubbs Avenue in Fitzgerald during a robbery at the residence. His girlfriend was also in the home at the time of the robbery and ran for help. Burch, who died from gunshot wounds, had won $434,272 in a Fantasy 5 jackpot in November 2015.

“I want to thank Major Hogan and the other officers who have worked so hard to solve this crime,” McLemore said. “They have worked around the clock to get the job done. This makes a 100 percent solve rate on every murder in Ben Hill County that the sheriff’s office has investigated in the past 12 years.”
