TIFTON, Ga. – Entenmann’s® Bakery, a division of Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU), is again partnering with The Salvation Army for National Donut Day, celebrated this year on June 3. To commemorate this historical day, the day’s events will include an Entenmann’s® donut sampling from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last, at the Salvation Army Service Center, located at 1205 Highway 82 East. Samples will be available, along with coffee, with special coupons for the Salvation Army store to be given to veterans.
The Salvation Army founded National Donut Day in 1938 to pay tribute to “Donut Lassies,” female volunteers, who provide writing supplies, clothes-mending, home-cooked meals and, of course, donuts for soldiers on the front lines in WWI. For the sixth consecutive year, Entenmann’s® will be joining The Salvation Army to honor this day with co-branded Entenmann’s® Bakery boxes, including the company’s roll-out of the new Rich Frosted Party Sprinkled Donut. In addition, Entenmann’s® Bakery will donate $1 to The Salvation Army for each ‘Win Free Donuts for a Year’ Facebook sweepstakes entry received during the campaign, up to $35,000.
“With the support of Entenmann’s®, we are glad for the opportunity to share National Donut Day with our community. For The Salvation Army, the donut is a symbol of our service, a legacy we continue to uphold in Tifton,” said Susie Chitwood, director.
“We are honored to have The Salvation Army as our National Donut Day partner for the sixth consecutive year, and proud to be a part of their efforts to help families around the world by raising funds through our National Donut Day campaign,” said Maureen Sticco, director of Entenmann’s Marketing Services. “We are also looking forward to the ‘Win Free Donuts for a Year’ Facebook sweepstakes, reaching Entenmann’s® fans everywhere so they can be part of our National Donut Day celebration and have a chance to win their own parties at home.”
