LIVE OAK, Fla. — The Live Oak Busy Bee on US Highway 129 is the “best of the best” truck stop in the country, according to a Trucker Path App survey.

Trucker Path surveyed more than 71,000 ratings of 3,500 truck stops across the country to find the best truck stops and which states have the best locations. The second best truck stop is Tullo Truck Stop in Kearny, New Jersey, and Texas won best state.

Trucker Path found truckers prefer places with a lot of parking and that have clean bathrooms, showers and laundry rooms. Reviewers also praised stops with many restaurant options.

James Hall is a truck driver from North Carolina and makes it a point to stop at the Busy Bee. He doesn’t use the trucker app, but he recommends the stop to any drivers coming through the area.

“It’s unique,” Hall said. “The bathrooms and showers and everything is clean, and they’ve got the Duncan Donuts and Burger King and a souvenir shop. What more do you need?”

There are other Busy Bees, but the Live Oak location is the chain’s flagship, said Chad Hubert, general manager. Hubert said the results of the survey surprised him, but also didn’t.

“We do a really good job here. We get compliments and we know we’re good, but we didn’t know we were the best,” Hubert said.

Truckers have told Hubert their bathrooms and showers are like being in a five star hotel. A big reason for this is how new everything at the Busy Bee is. The bathrooms and showers were put in three or four moths ago, Hubert said. The Busy Bee itself isn’t even two years old yet.

The stores success is undeniable, and Hubert said they want to expand.

“We are planning on building more shops this size. We just don’t know when or where just yet,” Hubert said.
