LIVE OAK — Lisa Peters has always loved working in retail.

“I don’t know what it is,” Peters said. “I just love helping people and making them feel good.”

So when a business she and her husband were renting space to closed, Peters jumped at the opportunity to fill the space with her own business.

Krave’s Boutique opened in August. It is an affordable women’s clothing store located on 118 E Howard St. in downtown Live Oak, open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. It’s also on Facebook and Instagram.

Peters does all shopping herself and services anyone between the age of 15 and 60 year old, she said.

“From casual stuff to dresses or for game days, we have an outfit for anyone here,” Peters said.

The store has a relaxing atmosphere and a comfortable Charleston, South Carolina vibe. From the brick walls to the wood roof, Krave’s embodies the small town ascetic with modern fashion.

She sells brands like Miss Me denim apparel, Dear John apparel and denim and Not Rated shoes. Shopping makes women happy, Peters said, and that’s what she enjoys most about her work.

Peters is also a licensed practical nurse, working on getting her master’s in nursing. She worked at Walmart and loved it, but said she couldn’t pay the bills there, she said. So, she opened her own business and already hopes to expand.

“In two months, I’ve almost outgrown this store,” Peters said. “I’d love to grow and expand over the next five years.”

Live Oak needs more stores downtown, Peters said. She advises young people in town to create their own opportunities.
