TIFTON — Every Wednesday, members of the Tifton Fire Department conduct routine inspections on their ladder trucks.
The ladders are extended and rotated to make sure they are in good working order.
The stabilizers are extended, which serve to keep the ladder truck sturdy while the ladder is in use.
On August 23, two ladder trucks, L-1 and L-10, were inspected.
L-1, which has a 95-foot ladder, has a platform, or bucket, which a firefighter can ride in to either be lifted high up or out over debris.
L-10 has a 75-foot ladder with a light, which they checked to make sure was working as well.
The hydraulic lines are examined as well to make sure there are no leaks.
