Two men charged with murder in connection with Monday morning shooting

TIFTON — Two Tifton men have been charged with felony murder in connection to a shooting in downtown Tifton in the early hours of Monday morning.

Kenneth Williams, 26, and Anthony Woods, 29, both of Tifton, have both been arrested and charged with the murder of Cedric Brown, according to a press release from Sergeant Ferron Yi with the Tifton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

On Dec. 4 at approximately 2:36 a.m., law enforcement officers were dispatched to 3rd Street and Commerce Way because of reports of multiple gunshots fired in the area.

Tifton Police Department and Tift County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found Cedric Brown dead from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release. The investigation led to the arrest of Williams, who was still on the scene when law enforcement arrived.

The release states that further investigation led to the arrest of Woods, who was shot in the leg during the altercation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation processed the crime scene.

Williams has been charged with murder, felony murder, and two counts of aggravated assault, according to the release.

Woods has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, the report states.

Both men are currently being held at the Tift County Jail.
