TIFTON — The CHESS Academy Knights avenged an earlier season loss and won their own invitational tournament Saturday at Tifton’s First United Methodist Church.
In the finals, the Knights won over Corinth (Fla.), 50-47, a game that was tight until the end.

Head coach Jason Bishoff said a potential game-tying three-point attempt by Corinth rimmed out at the buzzer.
Holt Dixon and Austin Wiley each had four points in the final frame.
“They really put the game away,” said Bishoff.
Dixon gave the Knights a three-point difference that ultimately became the winning margin.
CHESS led 24-15 at intermission, but Corinth had clawed back to 38-34 going into the final quarter.
The Knights were matched up with Byne Christian in the first round of the tournament. The Saints had beaten CHESS at home earlier this month, but dropped the rematch, 42-33.

CHESS will host Victory Christian Friday.
