Despite head coach Bobby Earls saying his Blue Devils were a bit “leg weary” from the three games of the Freedom Cup, they showed little of that on the field.
Tift and Worth were tied early at one goal apiece, he said, and the Devils were ahead 2-1 at intermission.
Mando Garcia and Richey Hernandez each scored a hat trick. Bryan Martinez had two goals, with Jonathan Escobar and Jeraldo Zermeno scoring one each. Zermeno added three assists. Hernandez, Marc Renner and Bryson Gordy also had assists.
According to online team records, it was the first time Tift’s boys had scored as many as 10 goals since May 1, 2012, against Stephenson. In four regular season games, the Devils have outscored opponents 19-3 and own a 3-1 mark.
The Lady Devils are also 3-1 on the year and winners of three straight contests. They have outscored opponents 18-4.
Both Tift teams will be in action at home Tuesday against Perry. The girls game will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Panthers are credited with a 1-5 record and the boys are 3-2, having won their last two games by shutout.
