Country musician John Berry will play the the Tift Theatre on Aug. 24.

TIFTON — A familiar face returns to the Tift Theatre Aug. 24 as country musician John Berry returns to town to take the stage.

The singer/songwriter rose to stardom on the country charts of the 1990s with mega hits as “Your Love Amazes Me,” “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye” and “She’s Taken a Shine,” according to his website.

During his star-making decade, Berry placed 20 singles on the country hit parade, according to his website. He earned gold and platinum records, and was nominated for a Grammy Award, CMA Awards and ACM Awards.

“It’s more of the 90s country ballads,” said promoter Collin Hathorn. “Like Collin Raye, Vince Gill, Sawyer Brown. Very heavy emotional love songs with a country twang.”

Berry will be joined by Andrew Pope.
