Adel man pleads guilty in Eldorado Food Mart murder

TIFTON — One of the three suspects arrested for the July 30 murder of Akhtar “Oscar” Perveez at the Eldorado Food Mart pled guilty on Oct. 28.
Nathaniel Day, 22, of Adel, pled guilty to felony murder Monday morning just prior to jury selection for his trial, according to Assistant District Attorney J.D. Hart. He was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.
The other two individuals charged in the case, Alexis Naomi McCrary and Caleb Day, will be tried at a later date. Hart said that her office is seeking the death penalty for Caleb Day.
On Monday, July 30, 2018 the Tift County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted a death investigation at the Eldorado Food Mart on Highway 41 where store owner Perveez, 55, was killed during a robbery. The release states a GBI Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide by gunshot wound.
Investigators followed leads obtained during this investigation that led them to Caleb Day, Nathaniel Day and McCrary.
