Editorial: Vote!

Published 12:00 pm Friday, November 1, 2019

We get it.

October is a busy month.

Festivals, football games, Halloween celebrations. Not to mention all the day-to-day things demanding our attention — family, work, school, your job, your second job.

Who has time to early vote?

So you got too busy to early vote over the past few weeks and now it’s down to it.

But that’s alright.

The last day of early voting is Nov. 1. Then on Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 5, you’ve got your last chance to vote for the 2019 election.

Important stuff.

But where do you go?

What time are they open?

And, wait, where do you go again?

Voters can find which polling place they are assigned to either by visiting the My Voter Page website at www.mvp. sos.ga.gov or by calling the Tift County Board of Elections and Registration at (229) 386-7915.

If using the My Voter Page, voters will be asked for their first initial, last name, county of residence and birthdate.

Once logged in, voters can check their voter status, voting district and voting location.

Local polling places will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

What are those local polling location, you ask?

For City of Tifton voters, the Old Gym is the voting location.

It is located at 222 Chesnutt Avenue — Building B at the corner of 4th Street and Chesnutt Avenue.

Omega voters can go to the Omega Club House at 5471 Alabama Dr. in Omega.

To make our voices heard, we have to show up.

For our government to be of, by and for the people, we have to vote.
