Letter to the editor: Giving thanks for Operation Christmas Child
Published 10:00 am Monday, December 9, 2019
We would like to thank everyone who packed a shoebox, donated money for shipping a shoebox, or volunteered at a drop off location or collection center in the Lower East Georgia area this year.
Thanks to your generosity, 8,779 children around the world will not only receive a shoebox with items they need, but will also have the opportunity to hear about the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ.

We would also like to thank the following: Orgill for providing the transportation of the boxes to Atlanta, Chick-fil-A for providing lunch on the final collection day and The Tifton Gazette for publicizing this event. Your generosity was very much appreciated.
We would especially like to thank our Eastside Baptist Church family for providing the facilities and volunteers and also the group from Mount Zion Baptist Church for helping at the collection center this year. This was Eastside’s 10th year as the collection center for the area and we have had 107,901 boxes collected during this time.
Thank you to each of our drop off locations for your hard work — Adel, Ashburn, Cordele, Fitzgerald, Rochelle and Tifton.
And a great big THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for this ministry.
If anyone would like information about getting involved with this project next year, please email me at occ@ebctifton.com.
