THOMASVILLE — As a precautionary measure to guard against the coronavirus COVID-19 and help ensure the health and safety of the public and the Thomas County Tax Office employees, the tax office is asking all taxpayers who have the ability to conduct their business through the online services listed below.

Property taxes — www.thomascountypay.com (search and pay taxes) services include:

Search and pay taxes (property and mobile homes), view and print property tax bills, property tax receipts and general information.

The mobile home deadline is extended to May 1, 2020.

Motor vehicle: www.eservcies.drives.ga.gov services include: renew vehicle registration, pay insurance fines, change address, cancel or replace registration, get an estimate of TAVT (title ad valorem tax) or ad valorem tax. Look up information such as vehicle information, title status and prestige plate inquiry and Go Green (tag renewals).

Governor Brian Kemp announced Monday that the Georgia Department of Revenue is extending all vehicle registrations that expire between March 16, 2020 and May 14, 2020 through May 15, 2020. This extension applies to all annual registrations, including personal passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, vehicles registered in the International Registration Plan (IRP) and temporary operating permits (TOPS) issued at the time of a vehicle purchase. Private sale purchasers must keep the bill of sale (or properly assigned certificate of title) to confirm purchased on or after March 16, 2020. This exception does not apply to purchases made from or through a motor vehicle broker or dealer. Registrations that expired before March 16, 2020 do not qualify for this extension.

Public access is restricted to the front door. The tax office is conducting essential services only at this time.

“Our top priority is to keep Thomas County residents safe during this time of crisis,” said Tax Commissioner Alicia Hester, “and we can do our part by limiting unnecessary in-person contact in our office.”
