TIFTON — Southern Home Medical has donated two new wheelchairs for laboratory use by the students in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Donated by Mike and Spencer Connell from Southern Home, the two ProBasics lightweight wheelchairs will be used in clinical skills labs by the ABAC nursing students, college officials said in a statement.

“These wheelchairs will be used to assist with teaching mobility and transfers with our fundamental nursing students,” said Danielle Kistler, simulation skills lab coordinator. “We are so appreciative of this donation since it truly helps our students become more prepared for their clinical rotations, as well as patient care.”

“We are always delighted to have our community businesses partner with ABAC to provide much needed equipment for our programs,” said Dr. Deidre Martin, chief development officer. “Having new equipment in the learning environment ensures our nursing students are well prepared as they enter the workforce.”
