TIFTON – Tift County reported about a handful of COVID-19 cases last week, with no cases reported throughout the weekend.

Tift County was still reporting 94 deaths by early in the week – all since the start of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The county recorded 29 probable COVID-19-related deaths.

Tift County has reported about 3,400 cases since the pandemic began last year, according to the GDPH, and about 1,390 antigen cases; antigen cases are results from rapid virus tests.

The county still reports about 410 Tift residents have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH.

Statewide, more than 855,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Georgia since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The state had reported about 16,750 deaths with more than 2,460 probable deaths related to the virus.

Georgia has reported nearly 209,000 antigen cases since the start of the pandemic. Antigen cases show results from rapid virus tests.

More than 59,000 people have been hospitalized across the state due to COVID-19, according to the report, with more than 9,600 admitted to an ICU.

More than 7.8 million COVID-19 tests have been performed with a 10.5% positive rate, health officials reported.

The state has performed more than 499,000 antibody tests — which show signs of past infection — with the state reporting a 17.3% positivity rate.

More than 4.07 million people have received the vaccine in Georgia, between Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson allocations.
