TIFTON – Tift County reported about a half dozen COVID-19 cases during the past week.

Tift County had reported 97 deaths by early in the week – all since the start of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The county has recorded 29 probable COVID-19-related deaths.

Tift County has reported about 3,450 cases since the pandemic began last year, according to the GDPH, and about 1,465 antigen cases; antigen cases are results from rapid virus tests.

The county reported 416 Tift residents have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH.

Statewide, more than 890,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Georgia since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The state had reported more than 17,800 deaths with more than 2,700 probable deaths related to the virus.

Georgia has reported more than 225,000 antigen cases since the start of the pandemic. 

More than 62,600 people have been hospitalized across the state due to COVID-19, according to the report, with more than 10,300 admitted to an ICU.

More than 8.5 million COVID-19 tests have been performed with a 10.1% positive rate, health officials reported.

More than 6.7 million people have received the vaccine in Georgia, between Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson allocations.
