Tift reports two virus deaths

TIFTON — Tift County reported two COVID-19-related deaths and a handful of new COVID-19 cases during the past week.
Tift has reported three virus-related deaths in less than two weeks.

Tift County had reported 101 deaths by early in the week – all since the start of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The county has recorded 29 probable COVID-19-related deaths.
Tift County has reported more than 3,475 cases since the pandemic began last year, according to the GDPH, and more than 1,475 antigen cases; antigen cases are results from rapid virus tests.
The county reported 419 Tift residents have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH.
Statewide, about 900,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Georgia since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The state had reported more than 18,300 deaths.
Georgia has reported about 229,000 antigen cases since the start of the pandemic.

More than 64,400 people have been hospitalized across the state due to COVID-19, according to the report, with more than 10,800 admitted to an ICU.
More than 7.8 million state residents have been vaccinated, according to state health officials.
