Tift reports handful of new virus cases

TIFTON — Tift County reported a handful of new COVID-19 cases during the past week.
Tift County had reported 101 deaths by early in the week – all since the start of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The county has recorded 30 probable COVID-19-related deaths.

Tift County has reported about 3,485 cases since the pandemic began last year, according to the GDPH, and about 1,480 antigen cases; antigen cases are results from rapid virus tests.
The county has reported 424 Tift residents have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH.
Statewide, more than 902,500 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Georgia since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The state had reported more than 18,460 deaths.
Georgia has reported about 230,700 antigen cases since the start of the pandemic.
More than 65,000 people have been hospitalized across the state due to COVID-19, according to the report, with about 11,000 admitted to an ICU.
