Tift reports half dozen new virus cases

TIFTON — Tift County reported a little more than a half dozen new COVID-19 cases during the past week.
Tift County had reported 101 deaths by early in the week – all since the start of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The county has recorded 31 probable COVID-19-related deaths.

Tift County has reported about 3,490 cases since the pandemic began last year, according to the GDPH, and about 1,480 antigen cases; antigen cases are results from rapid virus tests.
The county has reported 425 Tift residents have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH.
Statewide, more than 904,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Georgia since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The state had reported more than 18,500 deaths.
Georgia has reported about 231,500 antigen cases since the start of the pandemic.
More than 65,000 people have been hospitalized across the state due to COVID-19, according to the report, with more than 11,000 admitted to an ICU.

About 8.3 million state residents have been vaccinated, according to state health officials.
