Tift reports two virus deaths

TIFTON – Tift County reported two COVID-19 deaths and more than 100 new virus cases in the past week, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. A sharp rise in cases.
Tift County had reported 104 COVID-19-related deaths since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH. The county has recorded 31 probable COVID-19-related deaths.

Tift County has reported more than 3,720 cases since the pandemic began last year, according to the GDPH, and more than 1,960 antigen cases, which is about 230 more than what was reported last week; antigen cases are results from rapid virus tests.
The county has reported more than 430 Tift residents have been hospitalized because of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the GDPH.
Statewide, Georgia has reported more than 954,000 cases since the start of the pandemic, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The GDPH has recorded more than 18,800 confirmed virus-related deaths and more than 2,970 probable deaths. The state has reported more than 257,500 antigen positive cases since the start of the pandemic.
About 68,000 virus-related hospitalizations have been reported statewide since the start of the pandemic with about 11,490 admissions into the intensive-care unit reported, data stated.
Georgia’s vaccinated population — which includes those with at least one dose and fully administered — is at approximately 8.9 million with roughly 86,000 people having a vaccine administered per 100,000, according to the GDPH. The GDP reports about 4.9 million have had at least one shot and 4.2 million are fully vaccinated.
