TIFTON — Eighth Street Middle School Future Business Leaders of America had a great showing in recent region competition.

Forty-nine students competed in 23 different events, school officials said in a statement. ESMS FBLA came away with 20 first-place finishes, 10 second-place finishes, 10 third-place finishes, five fourth-place finishes and four fifth-place finishes. The top five places in each event receive awards.

“I am very proud of the way these student-members studied and prepared,” said Laural Mullen, ESMS middle level adviser. “Now we move on to prepare for state competition, which is a whole new level. Our students performed very well last year, placing third in the Chapter Sweepstakes. Our goal is to do that well or better.”

Students will test and compete for state honors in February.
