TIFTON — Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Tift members visited Tift County’s various educational systems during their second session.
Leadership Tift met at the Tift County Schools Administration Office earlier this month for Education Day, a full day of learning about the Tift County public school system and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
After spending the morning with the administration team of Tift County Schools, the group was given an extended overview on the school system by School Superintendent Adam Hathaway, as well as a chance to meet with and learn about the daily operations of various department heads.
The class took a trip to ABAC, taking part in a tour of the newly renovated buildings on campus and meeting with some of the college faculty.
Representatives of various departments of the college gave presentations to the class on their work and accomplishments, including Dr. Renata Elad and Dr. Ryan Currie of the Stafford School of Business, David Evans, director of ABAC Libraries, Yvonne Smith, assistant professor in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and ABAC President David Bridges.
The Leadership Tift program is scheduled to continue until early December, with the next meeting being May 10. The class will plan to explore Historic and Downtown Tifton and participate in Local Government Day, and will be accompanied by city and county officials.
