JOPLIN, Mo. — Brock Barber earned All-American at the NJCAA Division II championship over the weekend, ending the tournament on a bright spot for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Barber finished tied for 15th, shooting a +11 299 over four rounds, according to official scores. His best round was his first, where he shot 72 for par.

“Although we didn’t play well, it was a good tournament.” said head coach Larry Byrnes in an email. “Brock Barber did make the All-American team and I was very proud of the way he handled himself.”

The Stallions played three rounds as a team, but finished outside the top 12 and thus were not on the course for the final day. South Mountain Community College (Ariz.) won the team championship by 19 strokes. Cecil Belisle of the same college was low medalist an even par 288 over the four rounds.

The tournament took place at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club from May 17-20.

Ben Sanders, Gabe Lewis, Brady Kotkiewicz, Kole WIlliams and Hagen Marion all played for ABAC.

Sanders had two rounds of 77. Marion had rounds of 77 and 79.

At the pre-tournament banquet, Marion was named to the NJCAA Division I All-Region East team, said Byrnes.

He said weather was a factor in the championship. Thunderstorms were in the area, affecting both this and the PGA Championship in Tulsa, Okla.
