TIFTON — A Tift County legend has announced his return this week. Tadric Jackson will be leading a three-day basketball game at Tift County High.
According to his flyer, the Tadric Jackson Elite Camp is set for July 15-17 at Tift County High School, with check-ins beginning at 3 p.m. Friday. The camp is open to boys and girls, with four age groups: 6-8, 9-11, 12-13 and 14-16. Cost is $150 for all three days of camp.

In an email Jackson said he was inspired to start this camp from his own experiences.
“[T]here were many camp that I’ve attended growing up,” he said, “having to travel to Atlanta, or out of the state just to compete with the top players in the country.” He would like to increase exposure for area players. “I want the kids form South Georgia to have the same opportunity as I did and me being a Hall of Famer from Tifton, Ga., I want to give that knowledge back to the youth and be able to make them the best version of themselves and show them, that if you put the work in, then it will pay off in a big ticket at the end.”
Jackson was inducted into the Tift County Athletic Hall of Fame in January. He and fellow inductees had to wait nearly two years for the ceremony because of Covid restrictions.
“It’s an honor getting inducted into the Hall of Fame,” he said. “It was earned and not given. I’m blessed to say I’ve joined all the great athletes that have come through Tift County.” Jackson said he loved this area. He credited fans, players and coaches. Without them, “I wouldn’t be the person I am today,” said Jackson.
In 2014, Jackson was the leading scorer on the Blue Devils’ second ever basketball state championship team. He finished with more than 2,000 points in his career. During his senior year, Jackson signed a hoops scholarship with Georgia Tech, where he started all four years and earned multiple ACC academic awards.
