One step closer: Marlowe promoted to AAA Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — Tifton’s Cade Marlowe’s season keeps getting better and better. Wednesday, Sept. 14, it was announced he has a new address: Tacoma, home of the Rainiers, Seattle’s AAA club. The move was announced on social media by the official Mariners Player Development account and by the Rainiers themselves.

The promotion is just the latest in great news for the Tiftarea Academy alum. Two days earlier, Marlowe was named Texas League Player of the Week, covering the period of Sept. 5-11.

Marlowe, playing baseball for Class AA Arkansas Travelers, belted six home runs, while hitting .480 with 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. Game logs show Marlowe had two multi-homer games during the week. He drove in five runs against Amarillo.

Through Sept. 11 at Arkansas, Marlowe was up to a .293 average, with 20 homers and 35 steals. It is his second straight 20-20 season.

Marlowe had played four games with Tacoma through Sept. 18. He was held hitless in his first contest against Las Vegas, but struck for one in each of his next two, then two on Sunday. He also has 5 RBIs with the Rainiers, three in his last game.

In the Texas League, he ranked in the top 10 for homers, was fourth in RBIs (86), third in steals and sixth in hits (130).

Besides the Texas League honor, Major League Baseball Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week. Baseball America named him to their list of 20 Hottest Prospects From The Past Week on Sept. 7.

Marlowe played in a single game for Tacoma in 2021 after winning Seattle’s Ken Griffey Hitter of the Year award.
