Tift cross country teams qualify for state

- Running seems to be a joy for Tift’s Will Clark, judging by his expression as he nears the end of the Panther Prowl.
THOMASVILLE — Tift County cross country teams return to Carrollton this week after both qualified for the state cross country meet. Both Tift teams placed third in Region 1-6A Oct. 20 at the conference meet hosted by Thomas County Central.
Lee County won the girls meet, with Northside of Warner Robins first for boys. Veterans earned second place in both divisions.

Lola Reynolds had the best finish for the Blue Devils in either race. Her time of 22:56 was good for sixth place, according to results on MileSplit GA. Blair Golden, running in 17:39, was eighth in his race.
All four Lady Devils placed in the top 16. Ava Wilson was 11th, Emmalyn Lukas was 12th, Kathryn Payne was 15th and Madeline Perrin was 16th. Lauren Brey and Hannah Larger were the squad’s other runners.
After Golden, Will Clark finished 16th. Aidan Evans was 23rd, with Russ Benton, Sergio Martinez and Dawson McMillan 25th-27th. Hayden Roberts ran as well.
State will be Nov. 5 at the familiar Carrollton course. Boys are set to run at 12:30 p.m., with girls to immediately follow.
