TIFTON — The motorcycle HQ of Tifton is now the newest member of the chamber of commerce.
The Tifton location of Harley-Davidson celebrated its anniversary, as well as joining the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce, Oct. 27, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the front of the store.
Serving the area stretching from Valdosta to Albany, the motorcycle dealership offers customers not only a variety of motorcycles but also a fully stocked parts shop, Harley-Davidson themed paraphernalia and even a place just to chill and hang out.
Co-owners Eric Sternberg and Eddy Soberon said they make it a mission to promote a sense of community with customers.
“Harley is kind of a subculture; we try to bring as many people into the business as we can that want to be part of our family,” Sternberg said. “We enjoy just talking to people, having fun with them, not necessarily actually selling something every day – if they want to buy something, we’re here for them and try to be of service to them – but it’s also a place kind of unique in the Harley world. We’re a place people can just come hang out, and we’re not going to say, ‘Are you here to buy something?’”
Sternberg has been an employee of the motorcycle dealer for more than 20 years, with the Tifton location being the first one he owned. A year after purchasing it, he and Soberon bought another dealership in Kentucky. The two have considered adding a third location to the fold if the opportunity arises but said they aren’t too interested in actively searching at the moment.
Now, they’re more interested in continuing to foster the community of their existing businesses and are looking forward to their new partnership with the Tifton-Tift County chamber.
