TIFTON — Hardline distributor Orgill is looking to trade in its Tifton-based distribution center for a newer and bigger model.
The company has announced plans to construct a new distribution center in Tifton, which will boast not only almost 200,000 additional square feet of space, but larger shipping capacity for truck-loading, state-of-the-art equipment and a flow-through design to expedite facility processes.
Bill Richardson, vice president of Orgill southeastern distribution, said his division of the company has known for several years that the Tifton branch required an upgrade, and had spent the last year working with a design team and architects on the project.
“We’ve been in Tifton a little over 26 years now,” Richardson said. “We’re currently operating out of a facility that’s 660,000 square feet and we have come to a point that we need a larger facility – a more modern facility.”
The new facility’s location is planned to be located on Tifton-Eldorado Road, only a few miles from the current facility, as a means of making the transfer between the centers easier on the staff.
Construction will be handled by ARCO Design/Build, which also assisted Orgill in the planning phases, and is slated to begin before the end of the year. The facility is scheduled to be completed in early 2024.
At this time, Orgill does not plan to hire any new employees.
