Blue Devils win all five tennis matches against Lowndes

VALDOSTA — The hot streak continued for the Tift County Blue Devils tennis team Thursday Feb. 23. They won five more matches against Lowndes for their third sweep in as many days. The Lady Devils, however, were edged by the Vikettes.
None of the Devils lost a set against Lowndes.

Maitrey Patel had a 6-0, 6-3 win against Drew Faircloth. At No. 2 singles, Elijah Hellman defeated Steven Ruepp, 6-2, 6-1 and Ross Peters defeated Eli Johnson 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 1 doubles, Matthew Layfield and Tyson Lasseter won over John Ramy and Wyatt Galbraith 6-2, 6-2. Nathan Beck and Christian Mathis swept Ibo Ramy and Etha Cotton, 6-2, 6-1.
The Lady Devils won a singles and a doubles match.
Anna Lupo and Kylei Cutts won straight sets over Victoria Scarborough and Hana Shriner, 6-2, 6-1. Brayden Callison won at No. 3 singles against Morgan Causey, 6-1, 6-1.
Tift almost pulled out the victory. Fatima Williams and Riley Griffin went to a third set against Annabelle Kerrigan and Anna Bearden. After dropping the first set 6-1, they came back to win the second 6-1. Lowndes won the third set 10-0.
The other singles matches saw Rachel Balk win over Caydence Gabel 6-0, 6-0 and Milly Prince defeat Anna Claire Owens 6-2, 6-0.
Matches were played at McKey Park.
