TIFTON — After two weeks of negotiation, Emily Beeman is officially Tifton city manager.

In a special called meeting following a recent regular Tifton City Council meeting, council appointed Beeman to the position.

At the previous meeting Feb. 20, Beeman was declared the sole candidate for the position following an extensive nationwide search on behalf of management consulting firm Mercer Group, and as such, immediately entered into negotiation to determine the terms of her employment.

Rob Wilmot, city attorney, said the two had spoken and drafted a contract for the position and Beeman had accepted the established terms.

Beeman’s appointment to the new position unanimously carried.

She had served as acting city manager since October when former City Manager Pete Pyrzenski announced he was taking a position with the Georgia Municipal Association.
