- Artist Broderick Flanigan consulted several community members of all walks of life in designing the mural for Anthony Bateman, wanting to capture his legacy as best as he could. His depiction of Bateman surrounded by thriving children embodies the late coach’s dedication to the youths of Tift County.
TIFTON — In the same vein as the city’s Rock the Block, the Anthony Bateman Youth Center is planning a block party.
The youth center has announced the premiere of a Bateman Block Party, to be held the evening of June 29.
While the facility had initially planned on hosting the event June 22, inclement weather forced plans back a week. However, organizers have made it clear they plan to celebrate rain or shine this time around.
Eventgoers will be treated to food, music, and entertainment like bingo and bounce houses, as well as giveaways that will be held throughout the festivities.
The Bateman Block Party is planned to go from 5–8 p.m., and will be free and open to the public. For more information, contact the youth center at (229) 391-3868.
