TIFTON — Whether it’s at a local festival, on the road or in their hometown, Yodee’s Mobile Fresh, a donut-focused food truck, is ready to serve its signature snack to the people of Georgia.

Based in Perry and catering to residents from Warner Robins to Moultrie – as well as plenty of places in between, including Tifton – the food truck is well known for its massive donuts, at least twice the size of what you might find in the average donut shop. And they are made from scratch everyday.

The business regularly makes stops all over the state, popping into a town for a day or two to serve the locals donuts in one of three flavors – original glazed, chocolate or peanut butter – along with iced coffee.

Audrey and David Yoder, owners of the food truck, began the business four years ago, after David decided to shift gears away from his work of building miniature barns, to give him more time to spend with their children.

“We had heard of some donut trucks up north a little further,” Audrey said. “We went and checked them out and felt like it would be something beneficial to start in for a family business, where our children can be with Dad more, learn to work and be with us as a family.”

Audrey said the name for the establishment originated with David’s father, who had been given the nickname “Yodee” by his employees when he ran a logging business. When the couple were deciding on a name for their business, they found several businesses using the name “Yoder” and opted to use “Yodee” instead due to it being less common and the familial significance behind it.

Currently, the donut truck operates for just two days a week and only during the mornings, as a result of the extensive preparation time necessary for setting up the business.

Nevertheless, the Yoder family makes a tradition out of attending a handful of festivals within their service area each year, serving up all of the goodies they normally do to festival attendees.

And as their business’ name continues to grow in popularity, the Yoders are eager to grow their business, intending on expanding their reach north to the upper parts of Georgia and adding another day to their hours of operation.
