Area schools announce closures for Hurricane Idalia

Multiple school systems have announced closures for Wednesday, Aug. 30, as Hurricane Idalia makes its impact on Georgia.

Locally, Tift County Schools, Tiftarea Academy, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Southern Regional Technical College will all be closed Wednesday.

ABAC’s announcement includes all of its campuses, the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Forest Lakes Golf Course. “ABAC’s residence halls and dining operations will remain open for normal business hours,” said the college in an email.

K-12 schools in Ben Hill, Berrien, Cook, Irwin, Turner and Worth counties will all be closed on Aug. 30 as well.
