Middle school swimmers earn double victory at Coffee

DOUGLAS — Tift Middle School is ensuring that the proud high school Swim Devils tradition will continue for years to come. Boys and girls middle school swimmers won at the Coffee Middle Christmas Invitational Dec. 1, both topping their hosts. The Lady Devils nearly doubled up Coffee, 123-67. The boys were much closer, 112-93.
Larkin Saylor won the 200 freestyle in 2:30.67 seconds, not even an eyelash ahead of 2nd place Coffee at 2:30.87. Jovia Burke made the event a clean sweep for Tift, but by a much bigger margin of 21 seconds. Her time was 2:15.

Stella Byrnes earned the victory in the 200 individual medley in 2:48. Stella Bryant won the 50 freestyle in 29.56 seconds. The 100 freestyle went to Porter Johnson in 1:06. Burke earned another individual victory in the 500 freestyle in 5:53. Brock wrapped up the solo races with 1st in the 100 breaststroke at 1:23.
The girls 200 medley relay team won in 2:13, as were the 200 freestyle boys team in 1:59, the 200 freestyle relay girls in 2:09 and the 400 freestyle girls in 4:23.
Individuals on relay teams were not named in results.
