Former Blue Devils making mark in college basketball

DUE WEST, S.C. — Davis Byrnes made scored his first college basketball points Saturday, though Erskine College was not able to come up with a victory.

Byrnes’ first bucket came against Francis Marion in a 76-57 loss. Byrnes has played in six games so far, 17 minutes combined. He has five total rebounds and a steal

Two weeks ago, teammate Will Clark got five points against Warren Wilson, his first ever at the college level. Clark has been in five games for 2023-24 and has a steal, an assist and three rebounds. He hit two baskets against Warren Wilson, one of them a 3-pointer.

Both Clark and Byrnes are 2023 Tift County High graduates.

Erskine is 3-14 for the year.

Meanwhile, another former Devil, J.T. Warren is playing well at Northwestern State (Louisiana). Warren is averaging 5.2 points per game and 2.5 rebounds for the Division I school. His season high saw him sink 13 points against Tulane in November 2023.

Before playing for the Demons, Warren played at Chipola College.

Northwestern State was 5-15 for the season heading into a Monday night game.
