Tiftarea Panthers off to hot start in baseball

CHULA — Tiftarea Academy is off to a hot start for the 2024 baseball campaign, winning their first three games.
The initial week of the season saw them win twice over Clinch County (11-4 and 10-0) and at Fitzgerald (4-2).

Seven runs in the top of the 5th helped power them past Clinch, according to GameChanger. Before that inning, the squads were squared at two runs each.
Asher Cox homered for the Panthers and John Michael White and Jacob Joyner tripled. Cox drove in three runs. Eli Hannah was the winning pitcher.
Tiftarea run-ruled Clinch at home Feb. 15, needing only five innings. Cox walked it off with a double that scored John Jackson.
Lane Cole and Jackson Parrish each drove in two runs. Jackson and Parks Colwell scored twice. Cole earned the victory on the hill, giving up just two hits in four innings.
Last Friday in the Colony City, the Panthers scored twice in the 7th to win over Fitzgerald.
Joyner doubled in Jackson to go up 3-2. Landon Clark scored on a squeeze by Colwell for an insurance run.

Tiftarea was scheduled to play at Lanier County Tuesday before home games Friday against Pinewood Christian and Tuesday, Feb. 27 versus Fitzgerald.
