ABAC Stallions win over Jackson College, 12-2

TIFTON — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College burned the Jets, sending Jackson College back home to Michigan with a 12-2 loss Friday afternoon.
Returning to Tifton one year after a doubleheader blowout, the rematch went about the same way for Jackson.

ABAC scored first in the bottom of the 3rd. Jackson tied it in the 4th, but the Stallions galloped from there with three runs in the 4th, four in the 5th and four more in the 8th for a mercy rule.
Michael Morrison had the Stallions’ first hit in the bottom of the 3rd. He stole second and came around on a wild pitch for the first run of the day.
Jackson scored without courtesy of a hit in the 4th, Logan Christophel coming home on a sacrifice fly by Jared Kramp.
ABAC avenged that run and more in the next half-inning. Drew Rothschild doubled down the third base line to drive in Chasin Cash, who reached after being hit by a pitch. Rothschild and Joe Cooney — who had also been hit — plated on a double by Bowman Horn.
The rout was on after that.
A bases loaded walk to Cooney in the 5th scored C.J. Rose. John Monnin doubled in Cash and Rothschild. Cooney made it 8-1 when he came in on a passed ball.

Jackson got its second run in the 8th.
Quinten Rawls singled and Ryan Van Dinter and Harrison Childers came in to make it 10-1. A bases loaded walk to Hunter Robinson brought in Joe Fisher, putting the mercy rule in sight. One batter later, ABAC got it, Cameron Campbell hit by a pitch and Rawls scoring the 12th run.
J.R. Fordham went six innings to win, giving up only one earned run. Josh Montalban and Trypp Lumpkin threw the other two frames.
The Stallions scored their 12 runs on only six hits, but six players were hit by pitches — Cash twice — and nine more earned walks.
ABAC is scheduled to visit Alabama’s Wallace Community College Tuesday before opening up the GCAA schedule at Georgia Highlands March 19. Georgia Highlands will be in Tifton for a single game March 22 and a doubleheader March 23.
The Stallions are 8-13 for the year.
