TIFTON — Tift County and Houston County remained tied atop the Region 1-6A baseball standings Tuesday, both raising their records to 7-0.

Tift thumped Northside (Warner Robins), 19-0, while Houston blanked Thomas County Central, 4-0, to keep both undefeated. The new week of conference games also saw Veterans defeat Lee County 7-1 on Tuesday.

The region might know its first place team next week with the anticipated showdown between the Blue Devils and Bears. Houston comes to Tifton March 26, with a doubleheader in Warner Robins March 29.

Lee, Thomas County Central and Veterans are evenly matched in the battle for the final two state tournament slots out of 1-6A. Lee is 3-4, with TCC and Veterans both 2-5. Northside, at 0-7, is on the outside looking in, having been outscored 96-4 so far by region opponents.

TCC and Lee square off next week, as do Veterans and Northside.
