Williams, Graham win at Harmon’s Invitational

VALDOSTA — Nairobi Graham and Bailee Williams earned individual first places for the Tift County Lady Devils in the 400 meters Saturday, March 23, at Harmon’s Invitational at Lowndes High.

Williams was first in shot put at 39 feet, 5 inches. She almost made it a double victory on the day, placing second in discus at 111-4. Nearly four feet separated Williams from her nearest shot put competitor.

According to stats input on MileSplit, Graham won the 400 in 59.61 seconds, the only competitor to cross the finish line in under one minute.

The Lady Devils won the 4×800 in 10:56, 19 seconds ahead of Lowndes.

Overall, Tift’s girls were third at Harmon’s with 66.50 points and the boys were fourth at 45 points.

No Blue Devils won events Saturday, but there were two second places.

Antonio Burgess earned second place in the 110 hurdles, his time of 15.45 seconds an eyelash behind Lowndes’ Noah Fernandez, who ran them in 15.3. Jordan Gaskins repeated the achievement for the Blue Devils in the 300, second place in 44.67 seconds.

The Lady Devils also had a second place; Illiana Cleveland was runner-up in the 800 meters in 2:35.

Jalon Miller was third in the 400 meters, as was Graham in the girls 200.

Boys 800: Jabari Jones (6th) and Jaxson Hughes (10th).

Boys 3,200: Davies (8th) and Russ Benton (9th).

Girls 3,200: Emmalyn Lukas (9th).

Girls 100 hurdles: Lily Bruce (7th) and Aziyah Lockett (8th).

Boys 110 hurdles: Gaskins (4th).

Boys 4×100: 9th.

Boys 4×200: 5th.

Girls discus: Debraysia Doward (6th).

Boys long jump: Taylan Morrow (9th) and Ahmadre Woods (10th).

Girls long jump: Wallace (4th).

Boys pole vault: Hughes (5th) and Anthony Pace (7th).

Boys triple jump: Shurrod Rich (10th).

Tift is off this week for spring break. Their next listed meet is their third and final quad meet on April 10. Region is April 16 at Tift County High.
