Trio of Lady Devils earn All-State

TIFTON — Three Tift County Lady Devils earned a spot on the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association All-State South team for Class 6A.

The trio were Tift’s top three scorers this season, Jalaya Miller, Caitlyn Burgess and Jimmya Cushion. All but four players on the roster are seniors. Miller and Cushion are the only juniors.

Burgess led the Lady Devils with 16.8 points per game this year and finished at 1,130 for her career. Cushion, sitting at 992 career points, averaged 14.7 per game.

Miller’s average was 12.6 points per game. At 620 career points, she has a shot of reaching 1,000 in her senior season.

There was more good news recently for the Lady Devils. Miller earned MVP for juniors playing in an all-star game in Albany. Faith Hillmon, soon to sign with ABAC, was senior MVP. Tift County went 25-5 in 2024, reaching Class 6A’s elite eight.
