TIFTON — City officials plan to move the First Friday concerts to Fulwood Park during the summer, but need a special designation from city council to keep festivities running smoothly.

Main Street manager Hillery Culpepper requested that council members designate the city’s upcoming First Friday events, planned to be held in the park as “First Friday in Fulwood,” as a festival during their April 1 meeting.

Culpepper explained that the designation would allow alcohol to be served at the event, limited to the area around the main stage. She noted that the event was normally held at Tifton Gardens, but hoped to bring it to Fulwood to make the experience more enjoyable for the community in regards to beating the summer heat.

She additionally reported that the First Friday for May planned to have two bands performing, and would see multiple downtown businesses and food trucks set up as vendors around the stage area.

Council members will come to a decision on the proposal at their April 15 meeting.
