With decades of collective experience under their belt, Shine Rankin and his staff are eager to continue providing Tifton with computer services through their new storefront.

TIFTON — Longtime Tift tech service Rankin Technologies has made its new home in Downtown Tifton.

Owner Shine Rankin has operated his business for nearly twenty years, but has decided to take another swing at a brick-and-mortar establishment, celebrating the grand opening of the location April 9.

Alongside offering a variety of tech support services for small businesses and local residents, including data recovery, repairs, and computer equipment available for purchase, Rankin hopes the physical location will help fill a niche he feels Tifton is currently lacking.

“We decided to open a storefront when we realized that Tifton no longer had a computer store,” Rankin said. “We have a big box store in Staples and they do a great job, but we don’t have anyone that provides personalized service to commercial and residential clients.”

Rankin initially tried running a physical location on Eighth Street in 2007, but had to close the shop shortly afterwards due to the economic climate at the time. However, he’s eager to get to work with the new storefront and become a part of the downtown community.

Moving ahead, he hopes to increase the store’s inventory, offering more computer equipment for customers to purchase, as well as beginning a work-based learning program to local high schoolers.
