ROME — Tift County track and field athletes have two events remaining on the last day of the Class 6A state track and field meet at Rome’s Barron Stadium.

Antonio Burgess will be in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles and Taliyah Thomas, Diamond Wallace, Caitlyn Burgess and Nairobi Graham compete in the 4×200.

The girls 4×200 will run as two heats, with the times compiled to determined points.

Antonio Burgess was the lone Blue Devil to qualify for a final Friday, running fifth in the 110’s preliminaries in 14.77 seconds, according to MileSplit’s times provided by the Perfect Timing Group.

Graham barely missed having a chance to point as an individual. She placed ninth in the 400 in 57.67 seconds. Eighth place in the prelim, by New Manchester’s Ashari Pearson, ran at 57.42 seconds.

Jalon Miller was 10th in the 400 prelims and Graham earned 11th in the 200. The 4×100 team (Wallace, Thomas, Graham and Caitlyn Burgess) were 11th in that preliminary.

The Lady Devils saw Bailee Williams win in shot put Thursday, Tift’s first state champion in track and field since 2013.
