TIFTON — Tift County Schools’ 2024 graduation plans have shifted again. Graduation will indeed be at Brodie Field, but on a different night.

Wednesday evening, Tift Schools announced on social media that graduation will be Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at Brodie Field. Gates to the stadium open at 6 p.m.

Student input is responsible for the new plan, according to the school system. Options were to hold graduation Saturday at the UGA Conference Center — the plan announced Wednesday afternoon — or to bump up the ceremony and hold it Thursday.

The Thursday option garnered 285 votes, said Tift Schools, while only 87 voted for a Saturday graduation at the conference center.

“As a result,” said Tift County Schools, “we will hold the 2024 graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 16th at Brodie Field.”

There will be a mandatory graduation practice Thursday morning. Students not participating will not be allowed to walk on the stage Thursday evening.
