TIFTON — Tift County High’s graduation ceremony in May saw the school system dodge rain, make a backup plan, then change it after polling students. The whirlwind of plans resulted in a bumped-up Thursday ceremony that was the first evening graduation for TCHS in several years.

The end result turned out to be so popular that Tift County Schools has already announced that the Class of 2025 will graduate on a Thursday evening.

Via social media June 12, Tift County Schools stated that graduation is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Brodie Field.

Tift also announced extensive backup plans in case of inclement weather. Three of the first four graduation plans would keep the ceremony outdoors at Brodie Field, moving it to Friday evening, Saturday morning or Saturday evening.

A fourth, Sunday option “could be at an indoor location with limited seating.” Tift Schools almost did that this year. With rain heavily forecast for its preferred graduation date, the system initially announced moving the ceremony to the UGA Conference Center with a set number of tickets per graduate.
