CHULA — Tiftarea Academy athletes will get an extra day of rest this week. With the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby expected to come through the area, Tiftarea announced that all athletic practices are canceled for Monday.

“We look to resume normal activities on Tuesday, August 6th,” Tiftatea stated on social media Sunday afternoon.

School has not yet begun for students at Tiftarea. Teachers are currently in preplanning, with open house scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m. Students begin Friday, Aug. 9.
