City manager officially resigns

TIFTON – Emily Beeman has officially resigned as city manager for Tifton.
City council members received and unanimously accepted the resignation of Beeman near the end of their Aug 8 meeting.

The city manager had previously been placed on paid administrative leave July 19 for undisclosed reasons. Prior to occupying this position, Beeman served the city in various roles, starting out as city human resources director before being promoted to deputy city manager and city manager.
Following the acceptance of her resignation, mayor Julie Smith expressed her gratitude to Beeman for her years of service to the city.
The duties of city manager will be carried out by chief financial officer Larry Lawrence and city clerk Jessica White, respectively appointed acting city manager and deputy city manager July 29, until the city is able to find a suitable candidate to officially take the position.
