Cross country Devils second at Lee

LEESBURG — Owen Davies placed second overall and the Tift County Blue Devils easily won the Lee County Invitational Saturday.

Four of Tift’s runners placed in the top 15.

After Davies crossed in 17:35, Russ Benton placed fifth in 17:49. Jaxson Hughes was 12th in 18:35 and Henry Anderson was 15th in 18:44. Anthony Falotico was the Blue Devils’ other counting runner, 17th in 18:48.

Joshua Hellman finished in 19:36. Oscar Martinez, Kason Horner, and Seth Denham almost got in under 20 minutes, completing the course in 20:07 (Martinez), 20:13 (Horner) and 20:30 (Denham).

Lola Reynolds’ fourth place helped lead the Lady Devils to third in their race. Reynolds’ time was 21:45. Freshman Bailey Brock ran the course in 24:08 for 15th overall. Illianna Cleveland was 19th in 25:15.

Emmalyn Lukas and Stella Byrnes were the other counting runners for the Lady Devils. Tift had 101 points to finish behind host Lee County and Sherwood Christian.

William Tyre, Hatcher Swanson, Dawson McMillan, Jackson Shirts, James Ross, Ethan Lashley, Logan Mathis and Reed Allison completed Tift’s boys lineup. The Lady Devils also had Jana Webster, Keira Gibbs, Alexa Maag, Claire Martin, Jennifer Sandoval, Savannah Denham and Mazie Leigh Werner.

Middle school Lady Devils were third overall behind Katherine Currie’s second place. Currie’s time was 13:42. William Maxwell also earned second (in 11:38 and the Blue Devils were second as a team.

Kellan Lukas had a time of 12:59, Rylan Nelson in 13:57, Hogan Gordon in 14:09 and Camden Walker in 14:22. Mariah Hufford ran in 15:01.

Other runners were Marlee Schwartz, Belinda Cardoso, Skylar Stone, Morgan Richards, Alexa Vasquez, Maggie Nelson, Reagan Benefield, Emma Damian, Dahlia McRae, Cedar Graham, Leighton Myers and Dulcemaria Paz for the girls; Hyrum Baker, Davis Luke, Jack Currie, Eli Ross, Noah Garren, Emmett Thompson, Christopher Conley, Alejandro Martinez, Julian Martinez and Aiden Pilkinton.
